"The Aviator" catches four Oscars

กก LOS ANGELES, Feb. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- The Oscar for costume design went to Sandy Powell for "The Aviator," while Cate Blanchett also won a best supporting actress Oscar for the film, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Sunday evening.

    It's Powell's second Academy Award out of six career nominations. "The Aviator," an epic depiction of US billionaire Howard Hughes' eccentric life, won 2 golden globes and 11 Oscar nominations this January. It has been widely projected as the biggest winner with top star Leonardo DiCaprio being nominated forbest actor.

    Moreover, it won an Oscar for film editing, marking the film's fourth win of the evening. And it's the second Academy Award for Thelma Schoonmaker, whose first win came for "Raging Bull."

    Earlier, "The Aviator" has won the Oscar for art direction at the 77th Oscar ceremony presented at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood.

    The Academy Award for best makeup went to Valli O'Reilly and Bill Corso for "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events." Brad Bird's "The Incredibles" won best animated feature Oscar, and"Born into Brothels" won the Oscar for best documentary feature. Enditem
