www.chinaview.cn 2005-02-24 22:50:10

ISLAMABAD, Feb. 24 (Xinhuanet) -- Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf has categorically stated that there is no change in Pakistan's stand on Kashmir issue and resolution of Kashmir issue according to UN resolutions and aspirations of its people would be accepted.

He was interacting with media persons at Aiwan-e-Sadr (Presidential Palace) in Islamabad Thursday after launching president's website.

"So far we have not shown any flexibility on Kashmir issue but have given the idea that there should be flexibility from Pakistan side if India is also ready to reciprocate," he said.

He said that Pakistan will protect its vital national interest which will never be compromised.

Musharraf said both India and Pakistan have shown flexibility on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus service "and same spirit should be shown for Kashmir problem."

"The bus service is no solution to Kashmir problem but a step forward," he said.

To a question about India's recent ballistic missile tests and its acquisition of latest arms from the world market, the president said, "we are located at such a geographical location where no one of the international community could ignore us. We are getting arms to our requirements."

He said Pakistan does not want any arms race in South Asia but wants more concentration for economic development to reduce poverty and uplifting the living status of people.

"We should keep ourselves away from any arms race," Musharraf said.

"Pakistan is a nuclear power and will remain atomic power for ever," he said, adding Pakistan is having an excellent command and control structure as far as strategic arms are concerned. Enditem
