Major earthquake hits east Japan

    TOKYO, Feb. 23 (Xinhuanet) -- A major earthquake measuring 3 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale of 7 jolted Tokyo and some of its neighboring prefectures in east Japan Wednesday evening, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

    There were no reports of casualties or damage from the 22:02 p.m. (1302 GMT) quake. No tsunami warning was issued. Enditem
