DHAKA, Feb. 22 (Xinhuanet) -- Twelve suspected extremists were arrested in
different parts of Bangladesh in the last two days amid a recent wave of bomb
blast incidents in the country.
According to the Daily Star on Tuesday, six out of the 12 suspects were arrested by police on
Monday before dawn in Dhamrai area, some 20 km northwest to the capital Dhaka,
as they were roaming in midnight with bomb-making formulas, masks, wigs and
important documents belonging to an extremist organization from Dhamrai.
Three other youth suspects were held in Jahangirnagar University(JU) in
Savar area adjacent to Dhaka city, as JU authorities found with them a timer and
an audio tape containing aspeech protesting attempts to arrest Osama Bin Laden.
Police Sunday also arrested three extremists of Jagrata Muslim Janata
Bangladesh (JMJB: Awakening Muslim) in the northwestern district Joypurhat.

the Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee branch office in the same district.
Meanwhile, a hand grenade exploded at Shaidingi shrine in Moulvibazar of
the northeastern Sylhet district on Sunday night, when thousands of people were
participating in a religious rally organized by local Shiah community only 200

In the wake of a recent wave of bomb attacks on various places including
some nongovernment organizations, the country's intelligence agencies have
mounted surveillance on a number of listed mosques in the north-western region,
hoping to ascertain which clerics were known to deliver ultra-religious
