Arafat's nephew to be named Palestinian FM: sources

    RAMALLAH, Feb. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- Palestinian envoy to the United Nations Nasser Qidwa, who is also nephew of late leader Yasser Arafat, will be named foreign minister in the new cabinet, well- informed sources said Thursday.

   Nabil Shaath, the incumbent foreign minister, will hold the post of deputy prime minister, said the sources, adding that the new cabinet will not differ a lot from the current one.

   Ahmed Qurei will remain prime minister and Mohammed Dahlan, former interior minister and confidant of newly-elected leader Mahmoud Abbas, will be absorbed into the new cabinet as minister of cabinet's affairs.

   In addition, Brig. Gen. Nasser Youssef, former chief of Palestinian national security and also close ally of Abbas, will be appointed interior minister, a highly-contested post in the cabinet.

   Youssef will take charge of throngs of Palestinian security forces and carry out expected reforms in the apparatuses.

   The mainstream Fatah movement agreed on the makeup of the government at a meeting on Wednesday and the list is expected to be verified by the Palestinian Legislative Council next Tuesday.

   The "Al Quds" daily published the informal cabinet list in its Thursday's edition, which runs as follows:

   Prime Minister: Ahmed Qurei
   Deputy Prime Minister: Nabil Shaath
   Minister of Interior: Nasser Youssef
   Minister of Foreign Affairs: Nasser Qidwa
   Minister of Finance: Salam Fayyad
   Minister of Cabinet Affairs: Mohammed Dahlan
   Minister of Housing: Mohammed Eshteya
   Minister of Media: Nabil Amro
   Minister of Justice: Sharhabil al-Za'eem
   Minister of Labor: Rafik al-Natcha
   Minister of Women's Affairs: Dalal Salama
   Minister of Economy: Sa'di al-Krenz
   Minister of Communication:  Azzam al-Ahmad
   Minister of Prisoners' Affairs: Hisham Abdel Razeq
   Minister of Public Works: Abdel Rahman Hamad
   Minister of Sports and Youth: Abdel Fattah Hamayel
   Minister of Civil Affairs: Qadoura Fares
   Minister of Public Health: Kamal al-Sharafi or Riyadh al-Za'non (undecided)
