FUXIN, Liaoning, Feb. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- Body identification work started Wednesday after the coal mine explosion victims were sent out of a shaft in Fuxin City in northeast China's Liaoning Province.

The explosion claimed 209 lives Monday in Sunjiawan coalmine in Fuxin City.

About 110 victims have been identified, while 206 bodies have been sent out of the coal mine shaft, according to the rescue headquarters.

The disaster occurred at about 3:00 p.m. Monday about 242 meters underground in Sunjiawan coalmine and 330 out of the 574 miners on duty escaped, but 244 miners were trapped beneath the shaft.

Sunjiawan coalmine, with 3,100 workers, belongs to the Fuxin Coal Industry Group.

All coal mines under the group have been ordered to suspend production for safety overhauls. Enditem
