OTTAWA, Feb. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- A growing number of
Canadians oppose the US missile defence shield, according to a poll published
Sunday.
According to the poll conducted by the Toronto Star, 54 percent of Canadians oppose Canada's participation in US missile defence shield.
With most Canadians opposing the program, the federal
government may feel pressures to reject US President George Bush'sproposition
that Canada join the program, said the newspaper.
Public support from the program has also decreased,
34 percent of Canadians now support or strongly support the shield, as compared
to 37 percent last October, the poll showed. Enditem |
