BEIJING, Feb. 11 -- Israel says it will soon reopen its border with Gaza to Palestinian workers and merchants after the landmark meeting between Israeli and Palestinian leaders.
Israeli military says it has given the permission for two thousand Palestinians from the West Bank and another 15 hundred from the Gaza Strip to work or do business in Israel.
Israel has also decided to allow 500 other Palestinians from the Gaza Strip to work in the Erez industrial zone near Gaza.
In addition, Israel says it will let Gaza Palestinians visit relatives held in Israeli jails as a goodwill gesture.
Earlier this week, Palestinian leader Mahmud Abbas and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon pledged to observe a ceasefire in the Middle East summit in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
