Iraqi correspondent killed in Basra
www.chinaview.cn 2005-02-10 12:33:32

BEIJING, Feb. 9 -- Unidentified gunmen have assassinated an Iraqi journalist who works for the US-funded al-Hurra TV station in the southern city of Basra.

Police say the victim was gunned down outside his house.

The Arabic-language satellite channel was launched last year to counterbalance the influential al-Jazeera TV channel, which has been criticized by Washington for its anti-US news coverage in Iraq.
