Police storm Spanish consulate in Bern to end hostage crisis

    GENEVA, Feb. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Swiss special forces stormed the Spanish consulate in the Swiss capital Bern on Monday to end astandoff, authorities said.

    The special forces broke into the building around 2:30 p.m.local time (1330 GMT), and the siege around had been withdrawn,said Bern police spokesman Juerg Mosimann.

    But it was not clear if the three intruders, who forcefullyentered the consulate around 8 a.m. local time (0700 GMT), are incustody.

    The intruders, suspected of robbery, are armed with a knife anda firearm, according to the police. Enditem
