GAZA, Feb. 7 (Xinhuanet) -- Israel on Monday reopened the Karni passage on
the borders between eastern Gaza and Israel, a senior Palestinian security
official said.
Chief of Palestinian Passages Affairs Abu Salmi Abu Safeyya toldreporters that Israel partially opened the Karni passage Monday afternoon, adding that he hopes
the passage would be completely opened.
He said only food products and flowers imported from Israel are currently
permitted into Gaza through the passage, adding "raw construction materials will
be allowed later in the evening."
The Karni passage is the main commercial passage for goods moving between
Israel and the Gaza Strip and Israel on Monday opened the passage in one way
allowing goods to go from Israel intoGaza while the opposite way still remains
closed.
Israel closed the Karni passage after three Palestinian militants launched
a deadly attack on an outpost at the passage on Jan. 13, killing six Israeli
