GAZA, Feb. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Palestinian National Authority (PNA) security forces on Saturday detained three leading members of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) in Gaza, Palestinian security sources said.
The three DFLP leaders were arrested after the group claimed responsibility for a grenade attack against an Israeli army jeep ata roadblock in central Gaza on Thursday which lightly wounded two Israeli soldiers and left the attacker dead.
Tallal Abu Zareefah, DFLP spokesman in southern Gaza, was among the three. The other two were the group's local leaders in the southern Gaza town of Khan Younis.
It was the first time that the Palestinian security forces detained leaders of one Palestinian faction since newly-elected PNAChairman Mahmoud Abbas came to office last month.
The DFLP condemned the arrests in a statement, saying the move was a provocation and contradictory with the national interests.
It also urged the immediate release of the three leaders. Enditem
