BEIJING, Feb. 3 -- The world's first newspaper printed on gold paper was officially issued in Shenzhen, in southern China's Guangdong province yesterday.
The paper, called the "Chinese Flourishing Period", is published by the China Economic Daily to commemorate the achievements of the past ten sessions of China's top legislative body.
The golden newspaper has two editions, a "rare" edition and a "luxury" edition, each one will be limited to a run of 36 editions.
The rare edition uses 500 grams of gold and each copy is priced at 69,000 yuan, or about 8,100 US dollars, while the luxury edition uses 200 grams of gold and will sell for 29,000 yuan, or about 3,500 US dollars.
The newspaper has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records.
