WASHINGTON, Feb. 2 (Xinhuanet) -- US President George W. Bush willstress his Iraq policy and vow to make progress in the Middle Eastpeace process in his State of the Union speech on Wednesday evening.
"What we will be doing in the coming days ...is accelerating our efforts to train (Iraqi) security forces. The president is going to speak specifically to this issue tonight and what we can do to help the Iraqi security forces be successful ... and then wecan have our troops come home after that mission is accomplished,"Bush adviser Dan Barlett said in an interview with the NBC television on Wednesday morning.
"We're not talking about an exit strategy. We're talking about a strategy for success in Iraq," he said.
The United States has refused to set a clear timetable for the withdrawal of its 150,000 troops in Iraq and said it will not leave Iraq until its mission is completed.
Moreover, Bush is expected to commit himself to the stalled Middle East peace process and hail the positive steps towards ending violence by the Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas who was elected in a landmark Palestinian election.
Bush is also expected to aggressively push top domestic issues such as the social security and the huge budget deficit.
The annual address is expected to start at 9:00 pm (0200 GMT) and last about 40 minutes. Enditem
