China, Trinidad and Tobago agree to boost mutually beneficial ties

    PORT OF SPAIN, Jan. 31 (Xinhuanet) -- China and Trinidad and Tobago Monday agreed to boost friendly cooperative relations of mutual benefit.

    In a meeting with President Maxwell Richards of Trinidad and Tobago, Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong said there exists vast potential for bilateral cooperation and the furtherance of this relationship is in the fundamental interests of the two peoples.

    The Chinese government values its ties with Trinidad and Tobago,Zeng said, adding the past three decades have seen steady growth of bilateral ties and good cooperation in the political, economic and cultural sectors.

    Richards said the relations between the two nations have been friendly and cooperative for many years and Zeng's ongoing visit would serve to further cooperation in economic, trade, cultural and tourist sectors.

    He said Trinidad and Tobago will make unremitting efforts, together with China, to cultivate a solid relationship.

    Zeng Sunday flew into Trinidad and Tobago, the fourth leg of his five-nation visit in Latin America and Caribbean that will also take him to Jamaica Tuesday. Prior to this, he had just woundup his visit to Mexico, Peru and Venezuela. Enditem
