RAMALLAH, Jan. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- A senior Palestinian
official saidon Thursday that Israel has agreed to withdraw from four
Palestinian cities in the West Bank and release 900 Palestinian prisoners.
The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that during a meeting held in Jerusalem on Wednesday,
Israel accepted most of Palestinian demands, including operating Gaza Airport
and constructing a sea port in Gaza.
The security official said that Israel agreed to stop
its targeted killing and pursuing militants, but said militants should be
careful, "because we should wait for an official Israeli announcement."
Meanwhile, Mohamed Dahlan, former minister for
InteriorSecurity, told reporters in Ramallah that he would meet with Israeli
Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz soon.
Dahlan did not say when the meeting will be held, but
said thatthe meeting would discuss an old agreement which had been reached and
still valid between him and Mofaz.
When Mahmoud Abbas served as Palestinian prime
minister in 2003,Mofaz and Dahlan agreed on releasing prisoners and an Israeli
pullout of Palestinian cities.
Dahlan said his meeting with Mofaz would discuss
mechanisms of the pullout from the West Bank cities, the release of Palestinian
prisoners and stopping pursuing and targeting militants.
"President Abbas and Prime Minister Ahmed Qurei had given
clear orders to chiefs of security to prepare for taking over security in five
West Bank cities -- Qalqilya, Ramallah, Tulkarm, Bethlehem andJericho," he said.
