BEIJING, Jan. 21 -- Chinese youth team failed to break through from the group events in the Qatar youth soccer tournament after a defeat to Ukraine 2-1.

The team managed a total of four goals in the group stage but an embarrassing winless record let them eat dust standing the bottom of the group.

Head coach Yin Tiesheng put substitutes into his line-up and new faces posed threats to the rivals' goal since the start. And a free-kick from Wang Yongpo, which was reflected by Ukraine's defender in the 12th minute, gave Chinese the lead.

However, the counterparts took the command since then and scored the equalizer and the winner in the second half.
