PRAGUE, Jan. 20, (Xinhuanet) -- The European Union (EU) constitution is not well received in the Czech Republic as 86 percent of its people said they had no interest in it at all, according to results of a survey published on Thursday.

Two thirds of the respondents said they had heard of the constitution but knew nothing more than that; one in five had never heard of it and only 17 percent had limited knowledge of theconstitution, according to the survey conducted by the Czech Social Research and Study Center.

As for the Czech Republic's entry into the EU last year, three quarters said their lives had not changed at all, nearly one fifthsaid their lives became worse, and only 5 percent said their livesimproved.

The EU constitution, signed by leaders of all 25 EU members last October in Rome, will get into force on Nov. 1, 2006 if it can be ratified by all member states before that date. Enditem
