TEHRAN, Jan. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Iranian Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani said on Monday that no country dared to attack Iran because they had not been able to determine Iran's military might, the English-language Tehran Times reported on Tuesday.
Shamkhani was quoted as saying that no country could attack Iranbecause they did not have precise information about Iran's military capabilities to deter enemies.
"We can claim that we have rapidly produced equipment that has resulted in the greatest deterrent," Shamkhani said.
Shamkhani also stressed the necessity of developing military capability.
"In (military) production power, we should be the pioneer, otherwise we lose," he said.
His remarks came after the US White House denied the report by aUS magazine on Jan. 16 that US special forces had sneaked into the Iranian territory under a mission of reconnaissance for future military operations.
In late August 2004, Tehran declared that it had achieved an "effective deterrent power" to confront its enemies in the region, as the United States and Israel accused Iran of secretly developingatomic weapons and threatened to launch preemptive attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities. Enditem
