ĦĦSEOUL, Jan. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- Chung Mong-joon was reelected for his fourth term as president of the (South) Korea Football Association (KFA) at a general assembly held the KFA's office here on Tuesday.

Chung was elected unanimously for another four-year term as the50th president of KFA by 23 representatives, who took part in the vote, South Korean news agency Yonhap News Agency reported.

Chung, who concurrently serves as vice-president of FIFA and chairman of the East Asian Football Federation, has been the country's undisputed head since 1993.

The 53-year-old independent lawmaker has also gained respect for the country's successful joint hosting of the 2002 FIFA World Cup Finals, in which the South Korean team advanced to the semi-finals for the first time.

"I will do my utmost for development of South Korean football,"Chung was quoted as saying by Yonhap after his reelection.

"Although I was elected president, I will not run again for a fifth term," he said. "After the KFA had improved in finances and facilities for football, and South Korean football had increased its international status during my presidency, I missed my timing to resign from the post."

Chung further promised to establish an independent technical bureau in the KFA. His public pledges include hosting a world youth championship and increasing the K-League to 16 teams from 13.Enditem
