AMMAN, Jan. 17 (Xinhuanet) -- Iraqi overseas in Jordan began registering Monday morning to vote in the historic election for their war-torn country.
"I wish the voting process will be carried out in security," said an Iraqi before his registering.
Also on Monday, more than 75 registrations and polling facilities are opened for Iraqi overseas in 14 countries across the Middle East, North America, Europe and Australia, with an eye to help Iraq to rebuild the political institutions.
Registration will take seven days to Jan. 23, while 11 registration stations in the cities of Amman, Irbid and Zarqa willopen from 0800 to 1700 local time, said the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Those Iraqis, who must have documents to prove their Iraqi nationality and were born before Dec. 31, 1986, are enabled to registering, said the IOM.
Once Iraqis have successfully registered to vote, they will be issued with a registration receipt which they must present on polling day, together with a photo identification, it added.
During the voting days from 28 to 30 January, the registered Iraqi overseas must return to the same station they registered in to cast their vote. Enditem |
