BEIJING, Jan. 16 -- Maggie Cheung's entry for Best Actress in the Hong Kong Film Awards has raised a few eyebrows in film circles.

    Cheung makes only a brief appearance in the film "2046" but will compete against the four other actresses from the film, Garina Liu, Gong Li, Zhang Ziyi and Faye Wong.

    Many industry insiders feel it is not reasonable that Cheung should compete with actress' who have much bigger roles.

    Wen Jun, the president of the Hong Kong Film Awards, says Cheung's entry will not be withdrawn and the voters will decide.
