Less sandstorms predicted for 2005

    BEIJING, Jan. 13 (Xinhuanet) -- China is expected to experience sand and dust storms in a low frequency and intensity in 2005, a survey from China National Environment Monitoring Center shows.

    According to the survey, in 2005 the western regions of the country will be haunted more frequently than the eastern regions.

    The survey shows that sandstorm started in the northwest Gansu Province is expected to occur in a high frequency, resulting in more sandstorms in the western regions of the country.

    Most of China's northern regions will not be affected by sand and dust storm, excluding part of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Regionand the western part of northwest Gansu province in the spring of 2005, the survey shows. Enditem
