KIEV, Jan. 11 (Xinhuanet) -- Ukraine's former Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych announced Tuesday that he will appeal the official results of last month's presidential election.

"We will never agree with the results of the third tour," Yanukovych told a press conference in Kiev, saying that "we cannotrecognize the legitimacy of the president and the election."

"The results declared by the Central Election Commission give us a convincing basis to file a complaint with the Supreme Court,"Yanukovych said.

Yanukovych's announcement came one day after Ukraine's Central Election Commission formally declared that opposition leader Viktor Yushchenko won the revote of presidential election with 51.99 percent of the votes.

According to the commission, Yanukovych received 44.20 percent of the votes. Enditem
