WASHINGTON, Jan. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Shani Davis of the United Statesbroke two speedskating world records Sunday at the North American long track qualifying meet for the World All-Around Championships in Salt Lake City.

Davis won the men's 1,500 meters in one minute, 43.33 seconds, .62 seconds faster than Olympic gold medal winner Derek Parra, who set the mark at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games.

Davis also set the mark for overall points with 149.359. Fellow American Chad Hedrick had 150.478 at the worlds last year in Norway.

Cindy Klassen of Canada matched Davis' world records on the Olympic oval in the women's competition.

In the 1,500, she finished in 1:53.87 to eclipse Germany's AnniFriesinger time of 1:54:02 set at the 2002 Olympics. And Klassen also beat her own points mark with 159.605. Her previous best was 159.723 set in 2003 at the same venue.

The World All-Around Championships will take place Feb. 5-6 in Moscow. Enditem
