BEIJING, Jan. 10 -- New economic statistics from Taiwan show the island's
exports to Chinese mainland, including Hong Kong exceeded 63.8 billion U.S.
dollars last year, accounting for about 36 percent of its exports.
The trade volume increased by 28 percent than 2003, and Taiwan's trade
surplus to the Chinese mainland, including Hong Kong exceeded 45 billion U.S.
dollars in 2004.
The statistics show that the Chinese mainland has become the Taiwan
province's most important export market, and Taiwan's economic and trade depends
on the Chinese mainland.
Taiwan's famous entrepreneur Wang Yongqing said recently that without the
mainland, Taiwan has no way out; without mainland, Taiwan has no international
competition.
