www.chinaview.cn 2005-01-09 18:39:04

GAZA, Jan. 9 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli troops opened fire at a school turned polling station in the southern Gaza town of Khan Yunis on Sunday, Palestinian witnesses said.

They said that the school was under intensive Israeli gun fire when dozens of Palestinians were casting their ballots there to choose late Palestinian president Yasser Arafat's successor.

There were no reports of casualties, but the Palestinians said that the attack was in violation of the agreement reached between Israel and the Palestinians to facilitate holding of the Palestinian presidential election. Enditem
