IRA blamed for multi-million pound robbery
www.chinaview.cn 2005-01-08 21:40:36

BEIJING, Jan. 8 -- The Irish Republican Army is blamed behind the multi-million pound robbery of the Northern Bank in Belfast.

Northern Ireland's Chief Constable Hugh Orde says that investigation shows that the Irish Republican Army is behind the multi-million pound robbery of the Northern Bank in Belfast.

The chief constable indicates that the action undermines the Northern Ireland peace process and is totally intolerable.

Meanwhile, British Prime Minister Tony Blair is keeping a close eye on the incident and will fully support Orde's investigation.

In December last year, 26 and a half million pounds, or about 49.6 million US dollars, were stolen from the headquarters of the Northern Bank.
