JAKARTA, Jan. 6 (Xinhuanet) -- The United Nation (UN) should coordinate relief efforts to countries affected by tsunami disaster, Indonesian Defense Minister Juwono Sudarsono said on Thursday.

Talking to reporters in the sideline of the summit here, Juwono said that it needed an international cooperation to rebuild countries from the natural disaster.

"The United Nation is expected to become coordinator," he said.

The minister reminded the importance of returning self confidence among those suffering from the natural disaster.

Meanwhile Chairman of Indonesian People Consultative Assembly Hidayat Nurwahid warned authorities from breaching assistance from international communities, otherwise it would decrease their trust to Indonesia.

"Officials must purely channeled the aids, and for those corrupting the aids could be punished to death penalty," he said.

He also asked the donor countries and the Indonesian government to put priority on the sustainable long-term projects.

Indonesian House Speaker Agung Laksono said that through the summit donor countries could find out directly about the real condition of the tsunami-hit countries from the leaders of the countries and could decide the number of fund to be donated in appropriate number.

The tsunami disaster hit parts of countries around the Indian Ocean. Enditem
