Saudi Arabia offers another US$20 mln in aid to Tsunami-hit countries

    RIYADH, Jan. 4 (Xinhuanet) -- Saudi Arabia announced Tuesday it would add another 20 million US dollars to its humanitarian aid toTsunami-hit Asian countries, bringing the total number to 30 million dollars.

    Considering the unexpected severe damages caused by the quake and Tsunami in southeast and south Asia, Saudi King Fahd Ibn Abdul-Aziz has ordered the donation of another 20 million dollars in aidto disaster-striken regions, the official Saudi Press Agency reported.

    The donation will be sent to Tsunami-hit countries through related United Nations branches, which will ensure a smooth distribution of the money among Tsunami victims, according to the agency.

    A week earlier, Saudi Arabia promised to donate 10 million dollars in emergency aid to Tsunami-hit Asian countries. The aid includes cash, disaster relief material, food and medicine. Enditem
