BEIJING, Jan. 3 -- The Chinese government is continuing to aid poverty-stricken women.
The Chinese Women's Research Society says poor women are given favorable rates on small loans as well as vocational training.
In addition, the government has redoubled its efforts to help more women seek job opportunities outside their hometowns.
There are more than 20 million poor people in China, among whom 60 percent are women. From 1995 to 2002, the government provided them with loans worth four billion Yuan, or 483 million US dollars. Enditem
