LUSAKA, Dec. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- The 10th Common Market for Eastern and
Southern Africa (COMESA) Summit is to be held in Kigali, the capital of Rwanda.
COMESA Public Relations Officer Mweusi Karake told Xinhua here Thursday the date for next year's COMESA summit has not yet been fixed, but he said it is supposed to be held
between May and June.
The ninth COMESA summit and the first COMESA Business Summit were held in
Kampala, the capital of Uganda on June 7-8, 2004 calling for further integration
within the region.
COMESA is the largest economic grouping in Africa with 19 member states and
a total population of 380 million.
Since inception in 1994, the main objective of COMESA has been to create a
fully integrated and internationally competitive region within which there is
complete freedom of movement of goods,services capital and persons.
