RAMALLAH, Dec. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Two Israeli soldiers were wounded in an attack on their convoy by a Palestinian gunman in northern West Bank on Wednesday.

Israel Radio reported that the two Israeli soldiers were lightly wounded in the West Bank village of Baka al-Sharkiya when a gunman opened fire on their convoy.

The gunman allegedly belonging to Saraya al Quds, armed wing of the Islamic Jihad (Holy War) Movement, managed to flee to the village near the West Bank city of Tulkarem, added the report.

Meanwhile, the Israeli troops backed by several tanks and armored vehicles raided the West Bank city of Nablus at predawn Wednesday, Palestinian security sources said.

Five Palestinians were arrested in the raid and the Israeli troops also took over six buildings owned by Palestinian residents in Nablus and turned them into army outposts, added the sources.
