BEIJING, Dec. 29 -- At least 24 foreign tourists have been killed and more than two thousand missing in the devastating tsunamis that ripped through Asian countries along the Indian Ocean.

The Swedish Foreign Ministry confirms at least nine Swedes have been killed in Thailand, India and Sri Lanka and at least 15 hundred Swedish visitors remain missing in Thailand.
The Norwegian Foreign Ministry confirms 13 Norwegian tourists have been killed in the tsunamis and another 700 Norwegians are missing in southeast Asia.
In addition, the Croatian Foreign Ministry confirms a 3-year-old Croatian girl has been killed and 20 Croatian nationals missing in the tsunami.
In another development, the government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region says it has failed to make contact with 213 Hong Kong tourists in the tsunami-hit regions although many Hong Kong people have returned from Thailand.
Seven Chinese mainland travelers injured in Phuket have returned to the mainland after being treated in Thailand. One member of the group, however, is still being treated in a local hospital for fractured fingers and will return home soon. On Wednesday morning, 107 Beijing tourists returned home safely aboard a chartered Air China plane.
Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, Pan Guangxue, says China has appointed senior officials to emergency centers around the clock to offer help to Chinese victims.
