PARIS, Dec. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- A total of 4,500 French officials are to be mobilized to ensure security for the celebrations of the New Year in Paris, Paris police prefecture said in a statement on Monday.

"The policemen of Paris will be joined by soldiers and mobile forces of the national military reserve," totaling 4,500 servicemen, according to the statement.

Around the Champs-Elysees Avenue and the Concorde Square, traditional gathering spots of people who go and welcome the New Year, 18 emergency posts were to be set up with 140 doctors and rescuers.

Other steps were to be taken. For example, traffic and parking are to be restricted or interdicted on some main highways and saleof carriable stimulant or liquor is to be forbidden on the celebration spots, police said. Enditem
