Vietnam offers general rank to 72 military officers

    HANOI, Dec. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Vietnam's Defense Ministry on Tuesday offered the general rank to 72 officers, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

    Among the military officers, four received the senior lieutenant general rank, 10 lieutenant-general, two vice admiral, 53 major-general, and 3 rear-admiral.

    Defense Minister General Pham Van Tra presented the new militaryranks to the promoted officers, saying the promotion reflected thespecial attention of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the State given to the army.

    The promotion ceremony was conducted on the occasion of the 60th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People's Army which fallson Dec. 22. Enditem
