www.chinaview.cn 2004-12-21 19:32:56

GAZA, Dec. 21 (Xinhuanet) -- Israeli army imposed closure on the coastal road of al Sheikh Ejlein that links the Gaza city with the southern Gaza Strip, Palestinian security sources reported Tuesday.

Several Israeli bulldozers rushed in the morning from the settlement of Netsarim in southern Gaza city and bulldozed parts of the coastal road, forming hills of sands, the sources said.

The closure was imposed without an advance announcement, which prevented residents from passing through the road from the Gaza city to the southern Gaza Strip and vice versa, witnesses and sources reported.

The sources added that Israeli tanks surrounding the settlement opened intensive fire on the residents houses causing severe damage to the houses, no injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, the Israeli troops opened fire on the residents who attempted to pass through the coastal road and a Palestinian resident was wounded, sources said.  Enditem
