GAZA, Dec. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Peter Hansen, head of the United
Nations Relief and Work Agency for Palestinian refugees in the Mideast (UNRWA)
decided Sunday to bring back UNRWA international employees to the Gaza Strip.
Hansen said in a statement that 39 employees who were transferred
to Jerusalem and the Jordanian capital Amman will resume their work in Gaza.
The UNRWA decided to pull out its international staff from the
Gaza Strip five months ago after they faced difficulties in having a free access
to and from Gaza, as well as moving freely inside the area.
The Israeli army incursions and roadblocks have prevented them
from reaching areas that need humanitarian aids.
Hansen made the decision after several consultations with UN
Secretary-General Kofi Anan. Enditem |
