KATHMANDU, Dec. 18 (Xinhuanet) -- At least four policemen were killed on
Saturday afternoon when a group of anti-government guerrillas attacked at a
police station in Sankhu, about 15 km east of Kathmandu, a local radio reported.
The Kantipur FM said that the guerrillas attacked the police station at 5
p.m. (local time) and four police, including an inspector, were killed and three
other policemen were injured during the incident.
The injured policemen are undergoing treatment at a local hospital.
The guerrillas retreated after more government troops reached the incident
site for reinforcement, the radio said.
Meanwhile, Indian police have arrested a commander of the Nepalese
anti-government guerrillas from Lohaghat area in the Uttaranchal State of India,
the private radio added.
More than 10,000 Nepalese people have lost their lives since the
anti-government insurgency broke out in early 1996. Enditem
