Urgent: EU leaders likely to offer membership talks to Turkey

    BRUSSELS, Dec. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- European Union (EU) leaders are expected to set a date to open membership talks with Turkey at their two-day summit which started on Thursday night.

    Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who was already inBrussels, told reporters that the leaders of the 25 EU member countries seem to have adopted a positive stance, but "we cannot say that all of the issues have been settled." Enditem
