Apache helicopters fired at predawn on Monday at least six missiles at Gaza
City, causing no injuries but severe destruction, Palestinian witnesses and
security sources said.
The sources said that the airstrike was apparently in retaliation to a
tunnel bombing under an Israeli army post near the border between southern Gaza
Strip and Egypt Sunday night, in which six Israeli soldiers were killed.
Witnesses said that Israeli helicopters and drones hovered over Gaza City,
and they heard six successive explosions after several targets in northeast Gaza
City were hit.
Ambulances and firefighters rushed to the scene, where flame and black
smoke were seen coming out of the targeted buildings, among them foundries and
blacksmith workshops.
Israel claims that the workshops were used in manufacturing homemade
rockets and explosive devices that militants used against Israeli targets and
Jewish settlements. Enditem
