Japan to end grant aids to China by 2006
www.chinaview.cn 2004-12-13 15:44:19

BEIJING, Dec. 13 -- The Yomiuri Shimbun newspaper has reported that the Japanese government will end aid grants to China by 2006.

This is in light of the country's recent economic growth. On Official Development Assistance, officials are considering cutting low-interest loans over the next few years.

These will be discontinued some time after aid grants are terminated with the level of cuts to be worked out with China. The gradual reduction in assistance aims to ease possible objections from Beijing, which might be provoked by more immediate action.
