www.chinaview.cn 2004-12-12 22:42:29

ISLAMABAD, Dec. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Pakistan Sunday reiterated that it is against the open race of arms in the region elaborating thatsolid and effective steps are needed in the Nuclear and Conventional Confidence Building Measures to establish durable peace and stability.

Pakistan and India will hold dialogue in nuclear and conventional sectors here on Dec. 14 and Dec. 15, Foreign Office spokesman Masood Khan told a private television in Islamabad.

He said foreign office officials and military authorities from both sides will participate in the meeting and they will consider to finalize a manuscript regarding a formal agreement to inform each other prior to conducting any ballistic missile test.

Although informally this practice is already in place, it was discussed and agreed between the two countries earlier this year in New Delhi, said Masood.

He added that India and Pakistan are also talking about to establish "strategic stability" in the region. In other words, they are making efforts for nuclear and missile restraint, conventional balance and conflict resolutions between the two countries, said the spokesman.

He noted that the two sides will discuss about the establishment of a "hotline" aimed at avoiding war because of any mishap or misunderstanding. Enditem
