TEHRAN, Dec. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- A top Iranian official said Sunday that Iran would withdraw from the negotiations with the European Union (EU) if the upcoming talks in Brussels turned into a dead-end, the official IRNA news agency reported.

"We will continue the talks if we feel that they are progressing, but in case of facing a dead-end, Iran will cease the negotiations," Hassan Rowhani, secretary of Supreme National Security Council and head of Iran's delegation to the negotiations, was quoted as saying upon his departure for Brussels.

Iran and the European trio of Britain, France and Germany will start a new round of negations on Monday in Brussels to discuss theimplementation of the Paris Agreement reached between the two sideson Nov. 7.

Rowhani said the negotiations would be held at three levels, adding that he would attend the ministerial meeting and discuss with the foreign ministers of the European trio and EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana.

According to Rowhani, the second meeting would be held by a steering committee formed to carry out the Paris Agreement and the third one would be convened among three working groups on political, security, technology, cooperation as well as nuclear issues.

Iran suspended its uranium activities on Nov. 22 under the ParisAgreement but reiterated that the suspension was a voluntary and temporary measure.

The European trio in the agreement promised a wholesale of incentive offers on trade and nuclear technology in return for Iran's comprehensive suspension.

The International Atomic Energy Agency on Nov. 29 decided not torefer Iran's case to the UN Security Council and urged Iran and theEU to implement the Paris Agreement.

The United States accuses Iran of developing nuclear weapons while Tehran categorically rejects the accusation, saying its nuclear research is completely peaceful. Enditem
