CAIRO, Dec. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- A spokesman of Egyptian president said Sunday that Egypt would send an ambassador back to Israel whenit felt the decision would help Middle East peace talks, the Cairo Press Review reported.
Maged Abdel Fattah denied claims that Egypt had promised to sendits ambassador to Israel, but he said it was normal for Egypt to have an ambassador in Israel to participate in the drive for and implementation of peace process.
"When we become convinced that the peace process is entering itsnatural course and when we see that there is a real need for the ambassdor's presence, we will send him back," he told reporters.
"If at any time Egypt feels that the return of the ambassador toIsrael will be a positive move contributing to the advancement of the peace process, we are prepared to do what needs to be done," headded.
Egypt recalled its ambassador from Israel in November 2000 in protest against Israel's bloody crackdown on the Palestinian Intifada (Uprising), which erupted in September 2000. Enditem
