BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese tourists may be able to travel to America in the near future.

China and the U.S. have signed a memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation, which adds US to China's list of approved destionation of group tour.

According to the National Tourism Administration, Chinese citizens will be able to travel to America before next May at the earliest or no later than the end of next year.

Travel service agencies have designed several routes to cater for people's desire to see America. These trips won't however be cheap. It's estimated they will cost about 25,000 yuan or 3,000 US dollars and people will have to pay a deposit of 100,000 yuan or 12,000 US dollars.

China's tourist destinations now cover more than 60 countries. Last month, Brazil, Argentina and Chile were added to the list and since September 1 Chinese tourists have been able to go to 27 European countries.
