US soldier killed in bomb attack in northern Iraq

    BAGHDAD, Dec. 3 (Xinhuanet) -- One US soldier was killed and two others wounded on Friday when a roadside bomb hit their convoy in the oil-rich city of Kirkuk, the US military said.

    "The attack happened about 9:50 a.m. (0650 GMT)," the US military said in a statement.

    "One Task Force Danger soldier was killed and two other soldierswere wounded when their combat patrol was attacked by anti-Iraqi forces near Kirkuk using an improvised explosive device," it added.

    Some 1,240 US servicemen have been killed in Iraq since the war started in March 2003. Enditem
