Senior Fatah figure killed in Nablus

   RAMALLAH, Nov. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- A senior member of Palestinian mainstream Fatah movement was shot dead on Tuesday night in the West Bank city of Nablus, Palestinian witnesses and medics reported.

   Nasser al Badawi, in his late 30s, was shot when gunmen opened fire at him directly from a car that stopped suddenly near the Balata refugee camp near Nablus as he was heading home, witnessessaid.

   Fatah movement in the town of Nablus announced al Badawi was assassinated by an Israeli undercover elite unit that managed toreach the area.

   However, other Palestinian sources said reasons for the killingof al Badawi were still unknown, adding it could be due to internalconflict in Fatah movement's leadership in the area of Nablus.

   Al Badawi is the chairman of the students' union at al Quds open university in Nablus, and also the head of the Fatah youth movement known as "the Shabiba."  Enditem
