BEIJING, Nov. 30 (Xinhuanet) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has sent a
congratulatory message to the Special Commemorative Meeting for the
International Day of Solidarity of the Palestinian People.
Wen Jiabao extended his warmest congratulations on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian
People, on behalf of the Chinese government and people, China Radio
International reported Tuesday.
He also expressed his deep condolences over the recent death of Palestinian
President Yasser Arafat, and his heartfelt sympathy to the Palestinian National
Authority.
The Premier said the restoration of the Palestinian people's legitimate
rights, including the right to statehood, should be the primary objective of the
efforts to resolve the Middle East issue.
He called on the international community to help Israel and Palestine end
violence and resume talks at an early date so as to rebuild mutual trust and
implement the roadmap plan.
In another development, UN Secretary-general Kofi Annan delivered a speech
for the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, stressing
UN support for the Palestinian people's just course. He called on parties
concerned to fully implement Middle East "Roadmap" peace plan, and reiterated
that the United Nations will continue to help Middle East people to realize a
complete and lasting peace.
