WASHINGTON, Nov. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Seven soldiers
aboard a US military helicopter were killed when the chopper crashed in foggy
weather in the south-central US state of Texas on Monday, officials said.
The Army Black Hawk helicopter clipped a TV transmission tower wire in foggy weather before
crashing in a field near the tower, about 50 km south of Waco, a shipping and
industrial center in central Texas.
The helicopter, from the Army's 4th Infantry
Division, was headed to Texarkana, in the northeast of the state, officials
said, and all the seven soldiers were attached to the Fort Hood-based division.
The UH-60 Black Hawk, manufactured by Sikorsky
Aircraft Corp., was the Army's main troops transport helicopter and could carry
11 soldiers and a four-member crew. Enditem |
